Valerie and I had the great privilege to sit among the heroes of Hurricane Katrina. So many tough and great memories come to mind of our 3 1/2 years on the Gulf serving in Mississippi. We even had a visit from this guy and his lovely wife.
This evening we will be attending Volunteerfest put on be our old friend Ken Wetzel. We will have one last event tomorrow as Governor Barbour and current Governor Bryant will be honoring the Faith-Based Organizations who served in MS.
As nice as it was to share time with all these Responders, my heart is with all of the volunteers who served with us in Gulfport MS. 5500, came through HCRN and another 11,000 were deployed while I served as Governor Daniels appointee as Volunteer Services for the State of Indiana.
Blessings
